Sports experiences in a carefully designed and welcoming setting

At Fiorella Garden, within the San Martino Oasis, sports are played on professional courts surrounded by greenery. Padel, tennis, minigolf and pickleball come together in a space that preserves the park’s original layout, with shaded paths, peaceful corners and thoughtfully selected materials.

Padel

Two panoramic courts certified by Italian Padel, featuring steel frames, laminated glass for accurate ball bounce, and seamless flush-mounted nets that ensure smooth and safe play. The courts are equipped with the official “Mondo Supercourt XN” turf, the same used in the World Padel Tour, treated with kiln-fired quartz sand to enhance grip and reduce injury risk. Approved lighting allows for evening matches with excellent visibility and visual comfort.

Tennis

A next-generation synthetic grass court, designed to offer a technical and comfortable playing experience. The anti-glare LED lighting, certified by both ITF and FITP, ensures optimal visibility even after sunset. The court is available by reservation every day from 08:30 to 22:00.

Pickleball

An outdoor pickleball court with a concrete surface, complete with net and permanent court markings. Its regulation size (13.41 x 6.10 m) and night-time lighting allow for both singles and doubles matches until 22:00. Paddles and balls are available for hire on site.

1950s-style Minigolf

Nine holes surrounded by greenery, on reinforced concrete tracks faithfully rebuilt following the original late-1950s design. The colours were chosen through careful historical research, creating a relaxed, vintage atmosphere beneath the trees. The only minigolf course on Elba Island, it’s suitable for both adults and children, with equipment always available on site.

Services and activities on request

Rackets and balls for padel, tennis and pickleball are available for hire, along with private lessons by appointment and the option to organise tournaments on request. The sports centre offers separate changing rooms for men and women, each equipped with three individual showers and two toilets, plus an accessible bathroom for people with disabilities.

A spacious private car park, well-lit and under video surveillance, is available to guests. The relaxation areas, set in the greenery, are furnished with parasols, tables, chairs and armchairs for unwinding between games.

A restored park

A park brought back to life with love for the island

Once closed off and forgotten, the San Martino Oasis lies just a few steps from Napoleon’s former residence, yet away from the usual paths. Today it has been revived thanks to the work of Fiorella and Ugo, who chose to return this green space to the community, caring for it with attention and respect for its history.

The paths have been reopened, the trees preserved, and the structures restored without altering the character of the place. The result is an accessible, peaceful and welcoming park, where every detail reflects a desire to enhance the island without changing its essence.

The 1950s-style minigolf, brought back just as it was

Within the park, an old concrete-track minigolf course built in the late 1950s has been brought back to life. The original holes have been restored using materials identical to those from the time. Even the colours were chosen with care, following research through old photos and childhood memories of those who once played there.

Today, it remains the only functioning minigolf course on Elba—simple, straightforward, just like it used to be. A game for all ages, set in greenery and quiet.

Fiorella and Ugo

A simple story born from a clear idea

Fiorella Mantovani was born in Portoferraio and has always lived and worked on the island. In 1979, she and her husband Ugo opened a historic artisan leather shop, Fiorella Pelle, which is still active today, with its own workshop and exclusive production of leather and cashmere bags, shoes and accessories.

Over the years, alongside leather, she also began caring for a place. The San Martino Oasis was a forgotten park, just steps from Napoleon’s house. Fiorella and Ugo decided to help it breathe again, with the same approach that has always guided their work: care, consistency and love for Elba.

“We didn’t want to build something new, but to bring life back to a place that already spoke for itself. The silence was already there, and so were the trees. We just cut the tall grass, fixed what was broken, and let it breathe again.”

Today, every corner of Fiorella Garden is designed for those who want to pause, play, or simply look around.
You play, you rest, you breathe. There’s no need to say much—just be there.

Anyone curious to see what this corner of Portoferraio has become is welcome to drop by—maybe as the afternoon light fades, or while the only sound is the bounce of the balls.
