The glamping, the tents and the services

Silence: nature takes centre stage. Open your eyes, breathe slowly and enjoy your time.

Family-run glamping site immersed among the centuries-old trees of the woods of Sassetta, the green soul of the Val di Cornia.
Among trails, vineyards and fresh air to reconnect with nature. Travel by foot or by bike, sleep in a tent on flowering meadows, with a window to the stars. Breathe without a watch, welcomed by those who love and live these places every day.

Glamping tents

7 lodges nestled in a theatre of centuries-old cork and oak trees, suitable for 2 guests.
Each structure is made of solid wood, with polycotton walls and fir flooring—perfect for walking barefoot and enjoying the warmth that only natural materials can offer.

A special touch: crystal windows to admire the starry sky and fall asleep under its magic.
Each tent includes a private bathroom with shower or bathtub, a private veranda, and comfortable sun loungers.
There is no kitchen, but there is a kettle for tea and herbal infusions, and a mini fridge.

No TV by choice at Pian delle Ginestre: the most beautiful show is the one you can see just outside your tent. And within yourself.

Bistro with garden and wild ingredients

In the bistro at Pian delle Ginestre, the flavours of Tuscany take centre stage: ingredients from the garden, wild herbs, and local products are transformed into freshly baked bread, cakes, homemade jams, and irresistible first and second courses—with special attention to vegetarian cuisine.

You can enjoy breakfast, have a forest-view lunch or a candlelit dinner. The secret ingredient? Fresh eggs from the happy hens that live in the wooden henhouse among the glamping trees.

A treat worth tasting: rustic bread with cocoa, rosemary and hazelnuts.

Relax areas among oak and cork trees

Among the tents, in the shade of oak and cork trees, you’ll find small tables on raw wooden platforms.
Shared spaces where you can read, write, meditate, or enjoy an aperitif with cheese, Tuscan cold cuts, and tasty sauces.

Swimming pool and hot tub

You can refresh yourself in the garden pool or enjoy a hot tub bath in the jacuzzi, surrounded by fruit trees and plants lovingly cared for by the owners.
After a day of trekking or biking through the forest trails, it’s the perfect way to recharge and set off again with new energy!

Activities and wellbeing

Trails through the woods and vineyards, to experience Tuscany at your own pace. On foot, by bike, or on horseback. The right rhythm is yours.

At Pian delle Ginestre, you can even park your car and leave it to rest for the entire duration of your stay.
Here, you move with calm but energy: to enjoy nature actively.
Walk, ride a bike, practise yoga, explore the surroundings on horseback, or simply let yourself be lulled by the silence of the woods.
The trails start here: follow your steps without checking the time.

Walks through the Mediterranean scrub of Sassetta

From the glamping site you can head straight out onto the trails that cross the Mediterranean scrub, in a landscape of hills, silence and forest scents.
37 km of well-marked routes will lead you to the Poggio Neri Forest Park: 700 hectares of chestnut, holm oak and centuries-old oak trees—ideal for trekking.
Along the way, you’ll find picnic areas, an open-air museum telling the story of the charcoal burners, and an accessible trail designed for people with disabilities.
Among the most evocative routes is the Monte Bufalaio loop: a path that runs through the Botanical Trail, disused marble quarries, panoramic openings over the village of Sassetta, and a climb dotted with sculptures carved in local red marble.
A journey on foot, through nature and history.

Space for yoga and individual practices

The connection with nature here is also nurtured through mindful movement and deep breathing.
The flower-filled meadow and nearby woods welcome you for individual yoga, stretching or meditation sessions.
In low season, yoga retreats and special events dedicated to holistic wellbeing are also organised.

E-bike rental and guided routes

The owners collaborate with a bike expert who organises guided tours in the surrounding area with various levels of difficulty, both on white roads and forest trails.
The routes lead to nearby villages such as Castagneto Carducci, Bolgheri with its famous vineyards, and the Etruscan Coast—including San Vincenzo, Baratti and Populonia.

Sassetta thermal baths less than 1 km away

You can reach them on foot along a green path: the Sassetta thermal baths await with their healing waters.
A spa centre in harmony with the landscape—perfect for resting your muscles after a walk or a day of biking through the woods.

Forest bathing

Forest bathing in the woods of Val di Cornia

Turn off your phone, close your eyes, listen to the sounds of the forest.
Can you smell the earth stirred by animals, hear the turtle dove’s call, feel the wind brushing your face and hands?
Your breath slows down and you become part of everything.

This is Forest Bathing. Born in Japan as “Shinrin-Yoku”, it’s not just a walk: it’s a deep encounter with nature and with your inner self.

Here, in the centuries-old woods of Sassetta, you can walk slowly among holm oaks and chestnut trees, leaving your worries behind. Breathe in again.
Trees release invisible beneficial substances—true natural antibiotics—that do you good.
They calm the mind, strengthen the immune system, and bring you back to your centre.
You don’t have to do anything but be there: walk slowly, breathe consciously, open your senses.
In this safe space, the forest welcomes you and teaches you to slow down.

At Pian delle Ginestre, Forest Bathing and walking meditation sessions are available upon request: just ask at reception for more information.

Ilaria and Roberto

Two free spirits in love with this crazy world

“We love sharing this remote corner of the world with our guests, who after two days here feel like family.”
That’s the spirit of Pian delle Ginestre’s owners: Ilaria and Roberto.
“Two mad souls,” as they call themselves—who, well into their fifties, decided to follow their passions and turn them into a way of life.

“I love being in the kitchen,” says Ilaria, “growing herbs, walking, meditating.
Roberto, on the other hand, is hyperactive—he can build and fix anything, and takes care of the vegetable garden, the trees and his beloved hens.”

They handle almost everything themselves, with love, every day—supported by two invaluable collaborators.

Pian delle Ginestre welcomes everyone, but it’s not for everyone.
If you’re after glamping just because it’s trendy, if the call of the scops owl annoys you, or if spiders send you running, this might not be the place for you.
