The accommodations and services
A village all to yourself, immersed in the quiet of the Lucchese woodlands
Borgo Giusto Tuscany is a private retreat: tucked away peacefully in the woods, off the beaten path of mass tourism, it is perfect if you are looking for a slow and rejuvenating holiday.
The old houses, now elegant dwellings, still bear the names of the families who once lived in them. As a tribute to the first founder, Ettore Giusti, the village became “Giusto”.
Lose yourself in its cobblestone alleyways, adorned with flower-filled terraces and glimpses of the green Garfagnana landscape. Here, history is still alive, intertwining with the warmest hospitality.
A little gem for you
As we were saying, the names of each accommodation come from the last people who lived in them. In the Painter’s house, to name one, you can still find the paintings of its former owner. And the other dwellings, what stories do they tell? There is Tosca’s cottage, the Postman’s house, the Grand Duke’s house, Francesca’s, and Pilade’s. Who knows which home will be delighted to welcome you!
Accommodations and comfort
The scattered hotel offers 30 historic dwellings including suites, cottages, and renovated old farmhouses, all furnished in a rustic Tuscan style with a unique name, featuring stone walls, chestnut beams, and terracotta floors. Each residence preserves its original structure, ancient fireplaces, and stone sinks, but is enhanced with modern comforts and renewable energy.
The residences, which can accommodate from 2 to 10 people, are independent from one another to offer you maximum privacy and tranquility.
- Studio and one-bedroom apartments: Ideal for couples or small families, they provide intimate settings with exposed beams, stone fireplaces, and Tuscan-style furnishings. The spaces are warm and cozy, designed for those seeking a sanctuary immersed in the village’s silence.
- Suites and manor houses: Ready to welcome groups of friends or large families, the suites and manor houses offer spacious layouts spread over multiple floors, with bright living rooms, kitchens with a hearth and wood-fired oven, and a bathroom with a tub or hydromassage shower.
Some accommodations have small private gardens and panoramic terraces overlooking the valley, perfect for leisurely breakfasts or for enjoying a good glass of wine at sunset.
Convivial moments, Tuscan delicacies
The scent of freshly baked bread and the calamint that grows in the Lucchese countryside, herbs from the kitchen garden, the house wine: at the Ristorante del Borgo, “Il Gallo Brillo,” every dish evokes Tuscan culinary tradition, with options also designed for those following a vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free diet.
A sneak peek of the menu? You can try the bruschetta with lavender-infused lardo, the Frantoiana soup with toasted bread, or the spelt tagliolini with truffle butter. To discover all the delicious dishes, you’ll just “have to” go and taste them!

A sustainable stay
Sustainability is not a trend
At Borgo Giusto, we work every day for a greener future, because sustainability is not a whim, but the key to mindful growth.
Plastic use has been minimized in favor of compostable materials for table linens and in the rooms.
Everything is powered exclusively by renewable energy sources, to actively contribute to the protection of our wonderful natural environment.
But being sustainable also means reviving ancient traditions: you can participate in Tuscan cooking classes, where you will learn the grandmothers’ secrets and how, with just a few simple and genuine ingredients, they brought extraordinary, timeless flavors to the table.
A stay at Borgo Giusto is an experience that nurtures the body, the mind, and our planet!
Once upon a time...
Once upon a time, there was a 17th-century village
In the 17th century, Borgo Giusto was known as Soccolognora, a small corner of Tuscany that, like many places of that era, had different names than it does today.
Its memory is rooted in peasant life, in slow rhythms and hard work—the kind of work on the land that both nourishes and wearies. With emigration and industrialization, the village unfortunately became depopulated and for decades remained abandoned.
But the dream of bringing it back to life has become a reality.
Since 1995, a careful restoration has breathed new life into its houses, rebuilt stone by stone, respecting their identity.
The project was an architectural challenge, but also an act of love for this place.
Every corner holds memories, like those of a young Giacomo Puccini who, as a guest of the Giusti family, spent his holidays here. And if you listen closely, you might still hear the echo of a misfired rifle shot that left a hole in a roof: today, it is part of the Maestro’s legend.
Since 2022, new management has transformed the village into a big-hearted scattered hotel.
“Our goal? To offer a perfect retreat for every guest, in a warm and friendly atmosphere. We work like a big family, putting the people who choose us at the center of everything we do.”
The story of Borgo Giusto is that of a place that never ceased to exist: it had only fallen asleep.
And now, it is waiting to be lived in, once again.
