What to expect during the excursion

After meeting at the base in Chifenti, Borgo a Mozzano (LU), you’ll set off on a guided journey of about 2h/2h30m in the Cocciglia Gorges (total duration approx. 4h30m).

The route unfolds through three environments:

Le Golette: large natural pools carved into the rock, with clear water and deep bottoms.
The central part: natural slides, small rapids, and the washing machine (a fun, bubbly current).
The Blue Lagoon: a final canyon with blue-green water, submerged caves, and plays of light filtering through the trees.

Safety and useful information

The river guides are all certified by FIRaft and supported by internally trained assistants. The activity runs with a minimum of 2 participants and by reservation only.

✔ Price: €55 adults / €45 teens (8–14 years)

✔ Minimum age: 8 years

✔ Total duration: 4h 30m (river activity 2h/2h 30m)

✔ Equipment provided: wetsuit, helmet, jacket, flotation device, water shoes

✔ What to bring: swimsuit, technical shirt, towel, trainers with a good grip (that can get wet)

⚠ Photos and videos may be taken for promotional purposes and offered for free when available. We recommend bringing your own action camera with a slide mount and complete kit.

The Organizer

Garfagnana rafting

Riverplay is organized by Garfagnana Rafting, an outdoor center based in Chifenti (Borgo a Mozzano), which runs guided river experiences all year round for all ages and skill levels.

The team is led by Lucia Pedri and Siro Tolomei, supported by young athletes and expert guides. All activities are designed to be inclusive and safe, and to offer an authentic connection with the local territory.

Cocciglia Gorges: a small river paradise

A limestone canyon carved by the Lima River, rich with natural pools, smooth slides, small waterfalls, and mysterious caves. The water colour ranges from turquoise to bright green, with depths reaching up to 12 meters.
